My journey began in Brazil, where I was born into a vibrant culture full of rhythm and energy. However, at just one year old, my life took an unexpected turn as my family moved to Japan, driven by my father’s pursuit of a career in vascular surgery.
Japan, with its serene and orderly environment, became the backdrop of my earliest memories. Although I was too young to fully comprehend the change, the contrast between Japan’s disciplined lifestyle and Brazil’s lively atmosphere shaped my perception of the world.
Living in Japan from such a young age immersed me in its rich culture—from the beauty of cherry blossoms to the meticulous art of origami. My father’s dedication to his career often meant we were on the move, but Japan’s influence remained constant, instilling in me a deep respect for tradition and discipline.
After five formative years in Japan, we returned to Brazil, marking both a homecoming and a new beginning. Reconnecting with my Brazilian roots was both challenging and enriching. Portuguese, which had been a distant language, now became central to my identity, allowing me to reclaim my cultural heritage.
Our next move took us to the United States, where I began my formal education. The vastness of the country and its diverse culture were eye-opening. I had to adapt quickly, mastering English and navigating a new educational system. These early years in America laid the foundation for my bilingualism and multicultural identity.
A brief, yet impactful stay in France further expanded my cultural horizons. I immersed myself in French art, cuisine, and language, sparking a lifelong love for travel. Each new experience added layers to my understanding of the world, deepening my appreciation for linguistic diversity and cultural exchange.
Throughout these journeys, my father’s medical career was the guiding force, taking us across continents. His dedication to medicine not only shaped our family’s movements but also fueled my wanderlust and desire to explore the world. Each move was an opportunity to learn, grow, and embrace change.
As I reflect on my journey, I realize how these experiences—from Japan to Brazil, the USA, and France—have shaped who I am today. They have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of embracing new cultures. My wanderlust, sparked during childhood, continues to drive me to explore new destinations, connect with diverse people, and grow as a global citizen.
